Enhancing optical front ends was never easier! This small and compact bench top instrument is lightweight and versatile for field demos and lab experiments.
The Lab Buddy provides specific voltages, factory set current limits, and appropriately sequenced biasing for Discovery's family of Photodiodes and Photoreceivers. For busy test stations or student labs, where users of different experience levels might be handling high value opto-electronics that are easily damaged by mishandling, order your photodiode or photoreceiver to be mounted in the Lab Buddy.
Highly Linear Photodiode (HLPD®) Lab Buddy
The HLPD® Lab Buddy is a stand-alone remotely accessible instrument. It incorporates Discovery Semiconductor's state-of-the-art highly linear photodiode with high power handling capability. The Lab Buddy has a programmable bias voltage source for highly linear operation at high input power and a built-in temperature controller for increased reliability. The bias and temperature can be set either from the front panel or via a remote computer interface. The Lab Buddy controller monitors its bias, temperature, and average photocurrent in real-time.
The APD Lab Buddy is a remotely accessible, stand-alone instrument incorporating Discovery Semiconductor's R-402 Avalanche Photodiode. The Lab Buddy includes a built-in thermoelectric (TE) cooler for maintaining a constant, preset temperature. Both the Lab Buddy APD bias voltage and temperature can be controlled from the front panel push buttons or via a remote computer interface. The front panel continuously updates bias, temperature, and average photocurrent.
