Researchers and developers of 40 Gbits/second systems using the Return-to-Zero (RZ) format are now able to buy telecommunications grade O/E converters from Discovery Semiconductors, Inc. RZ data formats require 50% extra analog bandwidth in the photodetector to achieve clean eye diagrams with low jitter. The company's new DSC10ER Photodiode delivers the 60 GHz bandwidth demanded by RZ data and is also suitable for 80 Gbits/s Non-Return-to-Zero (NRZ) data. These photodetectors provide designers with more network flexibility due to their ability to handle wider bandwidth and to handle the high output levels from optical amplifiers. Delivery is with user choice of optical input connector.
