Discovery Semiconductors introduces a new balanced optical receiver useful for LIDAR and eye safe free space applications, the model R205M. This joins the single input model R202 as specialty photoreceivers for the 1.2 to 2.2 µm light spectrum. Operating at 150 MHz (model R205M) or 3 GHz (model R202) with a peak gain of 20 dB, both receivers are offered in a compact hermetic package. The balanced receiver option consists of matched InGaAs/InP photodiodes and a low noise amplifier. Use the balanced receiver in coherent-lightwave link designs to eliminate laser relative intensity noise (RIN). Delivery is with the customer’s choice of optical input connector and a type K or dual GPPO/SMMP coaxial RF output.
